This is a great thing, and I’m looking forward to it can come sooner!
Nexon Korea has just released a teaser site for the sequel to MapleStory, MapleStory 2. Not much is known about the game yet, but it is expected to be a 3D MMORPG. Both the original MapleStory and MapleStory 2 will remain online and receive updates. Beta testing is set to begin sometime in 2014 for KMS players, with a possible North American release sometime in late 2015 or 2016.
A few words from KMS player, Spadow:
MapleStory and MapleStory 2 are separate games.
The difference is that the sequel will be a full 3D MMORPG offering a quarter view perspective. I want to emphasize that they are two different separate games with each game having different game mechanics and gameplay.
Both games are developed by their own separate teams. MapleStory is developed by the MS Team while MapleStory 2 is developed by the MS2 Team. Development of MapleStory will still continue when MapleStory 2 is released.
And no, you cannot transfer anything from MapleStory to MapleStory 2. The only thing that will be linked to each other will be events and such.
